Fiscal Sponsorships

PIP offers fiscal sponsorship services to affinity groups and projects that do not have 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. Fiscal sponsorship broadens the funding avenues that an organization or project can pursue, since 501(c)(3) nonprofit status is required for funding by most foundations, corporations and government agencies.

Fiscal sponsorships from PIP are structured differently to accommodate an organization or individual need. In all cases, PIP acts as an umbrella organization to accept and administer funds on behalf of an organization or project. PIP bears fiduciary responsibility for the funds received, insuring they are used for charitable purposes and that all donor-reporting requirements are met.

Only projects that are closely aligned with PIP's mission and existing projects are considered for fiscal sponsorship. To be eligible, supported projects or groups must further a legitimate tax-exempt purpose, demonstrate a likelihood of project completion, and meet other budget and review criteria.
